I really don't understand everyone revving up the bandwagon. I'm happy, but cautious... Lets see the offseason and early returns.

As an aside, I don't know that Morocco Brown or any of the scouts will be here that much longer anyway. I think the Allen-Shanny broom might end up taking whatever is loose out in Ashburn.
|
Guess that was a Zorn-fake-field-goal-level mistake on my part in terms of wording.
All I meant was that I hope the Skins scouts (I'm assuming Morocco is one of our best) give Shanahan outstanding info with which to make decisions. If the scouting is great, maybe Shanny and GMBA have an easier time making picks that work out for us.

Certainly wasn't intended that way. I was being hyper-literal in answering his post and I don't find BnG to be particularly thin-skinned.

Finding a few more Hortons/Mitchells wouldn't hurt.

I know (or assumed) and was just joking myself.
He isn't thin-skinned, but the bones are a bit brittle...

Scouts are like the roots of a tree. They extend out into the unknown and supply a team with nutrients and helps it grow healthy and strong. Most of all, they provide stability. If you don't have enough scouts or if they're not taking in good nutrients, you won't get any of those things. Which is kind of where we're at with our depth right now.
Our talent cupboard being bare didn't happen overnight and it probably own't be fixed overnight. At a minimum, the existing scouts need to be supplemented. Maybe even replaced outright.

I didn't take your meaning to be rude, I just wasn't exactly sure what the meaning was lol.

Horton, maybe. You couldn't tell much about him this year with Blache choking off the talent on the entire defense. As for Mitchell, I think that if he is given the chance, he can be a pretty good player for this team. That said, there were a whole lot more misses than hits. A whole lot. Cody Glenn alone probably calls for a Singapore style caning of somebody lol.

I don't feel like rehashing all of Shanny's drafting again, but this was just one draft of his:
Quote:
1 11 Jay Cutler QB Vanderbilt
2 61 Tony Scheffler TE Western Michigan
4 119 Brandon Marshall WR Central Florida
4 126 Elvis Dumervil DE Louisville
4 130 Domenik Hixon WR Akron
5 161 Chris Kuper G North Dakota
6 198 Greg Eslinger C Minnesota

That draft was unreal. Shanhan had some busts over the years ( who hasn't) but I think it's a real stretch for Wilbon to say he's a bad talent evaluator.

Couple of these and we'll win the Super Bowl by 2013.
Wait, the world's going to end before then? Damn.

Shanny might not be Ron Wolfe or Bill Polian but he's not Joe Gibbs either. And he's certainly not Charley Casserly or Vinny Cerrato. I would put him at better than average. His weaknesses aren't in recognizing talent, they're in taming his ego when the talent is insufficient for the choice. In any case, Bruce Allen will be identifying talent along with a (hopefully) revamped scouting department. Shanny will only have to slect from the folks who have already been vetted and graded. Hopefully for longer than 3 weeks lol.

Culturally, DC is a basketball town. The numbers of pro and college players the DC area produces is sickening and when you reduce that to a per capita figure DC blows away just about every major city, including NYC.
The Urban Coalition Summer league is legendary. 3 Major Universities in the DC area are known for basketball.
Yes, we love the Redskins, but we are a basketball town. Not a remotely laughable statement.
