At three years and $16 million, Haynesworth contract is now very tradeable
With the Redskins paying defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth a $21 million bonus last week, we're told that the practical length and value of his contract is three years, $16 million, with $9 million guaranteed.
As a league source opined, "Every team in the NFL would have interest in that."
The question is whether and to what extent the Redskins would want reimbursement of the money paid last week. And that question depends on whether the Redskins prefer cash or draft picks -- and whether the teams that want him are willing to give up cash or draft picks.
In our view, coach Mike Shanahan likely would prefer to stockpile picks.
We've confirmed that the Redskins definitely attempted to trade Haynesworth before the $21 million payment came due. Others have reported that the efforts continue, with the Titans and Rams the teams most frequently mentioned. Now that the financial package has been reduced to a ridiculously affordable $16 million over three years, someone will bite if the price is right.

If only the skins on the field product was as good as their off the field product, I wouldn't have to eat so much crow from other NFC east fans, nor would I cuss at my TV screen at the end of the season week 10 of the football year.

comcast was talking yesterday about AH.he is the one and only player not working out with his teammates at redskins park.
kelly johnson said she had heard from some of shanny's ex players that once you cross him one time,he's done with you.
i agree with you all,i think haynesworth is on the way out.does he have to approve any trade?does he have a say in where he goes?
i would like to see the skins offer him to the rams for carriker and chris long.maybe haynesworth will listen then and do what his coaches ask him to do.

Not sure I agree. Who wouldn't want a talent like AH (forget the money side for a sec) if AH had a great attitude and played hard on every snap. Albert is responsible for this not Shanny (IMO)...
But if as a result of AH's actions, Shanahan makes a example of him, then I agree and I am all for it. I hate Haynesworth as he represents everything that is wrong with our beloved team.

i hope snyder also learns a lesson from all this mess too.next time, let the coaches decide if the players is worth paying, not an owner who does'nt know $h** from shanolah!
i think we ought to start shopping him around the league as a trade to get a good left tackle.i see no good of a fat out of shape player being helped off the field every other play and worn out by halftime!

The good news is that we have all been boycotting the team for the past several months and that should have limited the # of us who are holding soon-to-be-defunct AH jerseys, right? Right?

LOL! I am definitely in that camp. I have a strict rule on jerseys that I REFUSE to buy unless you accomplish sopmething on the field as a Redskin... McNabb is making me rethink that rule b/c of where I live.

Adam Schefter (I think he broke the McNabb trade, so I'm thinking he has got a good source) is now reporting that the Skins are not working on trading Hayenesworth.

Despite multiple reports that the Washington Redskins are determined to trade defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, a high-ranking Redskins source insisted the team is not. The source said Haynesworth is, and will continue to be, the Redskins' starting nose tackle

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. IMO Haynesworth will not be a good NT but he's the best we got right now until the Kaenou (sp?) gets healthy.

LOL! So true DJ. The Titans fans that I've talked to down here say they'd love Haynesworth back because they need help on that D-line. However, the asking price is obviously the key. I say get him out of the NFC because he is still a beast. Call him fat and lazy if you wanna but he played a large role in Orakpo and Carter's sack numbers last year. Switching to a 3/4 defense does limit his effectiveness so let's deal him to a team that'll utilize him better than us and hopefully recoup something in the form of multiple draft picks or star power at the O-line position.

Didn't say they're not working on a trade, rather they're not determined to trade him by draft day. Florio also makes a good point...the phrase "The source said Haynesworth is, and will continue to be, the Redskins' starting nose tackle" will certainly stick out to the big man that doesn't want to play NT.

Trade Haynesworth and we are back to the defensive line we all complained about for the last 5-7 years. Maybe the worst defensive line out of the group. Even in a 3-4 you do need a good defensive line. Especially since our inside linebackers are going to be really small.

Schefter's source is probably Shanahan himself. My guess is that Shanahan is trying to create a market for Haynesworth by saying they're not actively shopping him anymore. We are probably getting crap offers because teams think we're desperate. Personally, I'd keep Haynesworth unless we get a really good deal for him. Hopefully Shanahan and Big Al can come to some kind of working relationship so Haynesworth doesn't slack off this year.

at this point, he is worth keeping unless he becomes totally disruptive..
