As of today, Jason Campbell had not signed the first round tender he received from the Redskins reported Jason Reid of the Washington Post. However, he is expected to sign the $3.14million contract no later than Monday.

Hope this is a precursor to a weekend trade. IMO, the last one was pretty good. Plus, im tired of writing and reading about the McNabb trade.

Looks like Shanny wants him traded before the draft. I wonder if we have gotten any offers.

I bet the best we can get this year is a 4th although I'm sure the FO is holding out hope for a 3rd. If a 4th is the best we can do then I'd have the other team throw in a conditional pick next year or a player at FS, ILB, or OT.

That would be awesome, but I just can't see it happening. Take a fourth and move on. Good offensive linemen can be had in the fourth round if you do your homework.

I agree that a 4th is realistic and we will be lucky to get more. Kind of surprising considering a month ago we were discussing if we should have tendered him at a 1st and a 3rd rather than just a 1st. A 1st seems like a total pipe dream now. If shanny is so intent on trading him before the draft, why don't we just lower the tender to a realistic level, such as a 2nd or 3rd?

I say take a 2nd or 3rd...or don't move him! Worst case he stays on our team and we have a very good backup. There's nothing saying that Mcnabb will make it through an entire season.
We just can't give the guy away!!!

I agree with this. It's better to have a talented backup than to give him up for a 4th and to have Rex Grossman as your backup. Teams like Carolina and Oakland literally have dandruff starting at QB right now. Buffalo isn't much better. They won't be able to draft a starter in the 2nd or 3rd. They should explore trading it for Campbell. If they don't, they can enjoy their top 5 pick next year.

I would not give him away - but you either get something this year, or you end up with NOTHING after next year. My floor would probably be a 4th next year that could become a 3rd based on performance - that would recoup the extra McNabb pick.

Couldn't you still put a franchise or transitional or some other kind of tender on Campbell after next season? He's an RFA now, but we could put a 3rd round tender on him for next year, no?

On the surface it would seem the Skins are in a position to be picky: "No third rounder? Well we'll just keep our experienced back-up."
My worry is that trading the two picks for McNabb is going to make Allen/Shanny nervous they don't have enough ammo to start the rebuild. Shanahan may really want an additional pick this season to get another O-Lineman, LB, etc. on the roster.

That was my thinking as well...but I could be wrong. That would make twice in my life!

Why don't they package Jason with Andre Carter to get a few better picks, that is of course if Andre agrees to waive the no trade clause in his contract. And what about AH, they could package AH with Jason to the Jags, who need both positions. I guess that would make it all the more difficult.
Maybe we could get a late 3rd or early 4th. But, Jason should be moved on, you don't want any animosity in the locker room, once it's time to play football. Locker room atmosphere is vital for a successful team.
