Using our picks in the 2010 draft, we ended up with these players:
pinched this post from JaimeDeCurry on ES board, very good post when you think about.
(1) Trent Williams, OT
(2) Donovan McNabb, QB
(3) Jeremy Jarmon, DE
(4) Perry Riley, LB
(5) Adam Carriker, DL
(6) Dennis Morris, FB/H-Back
(7) Terrence Austin, WR/KR & Erik Cook, OL & Selvish Capers, OT

I'd say it's a near genius concept for the folks over there...

When you look at it that way, we came out pretty well. If Cook and Capers pan out this could be seen as a very good draft.

Thanks, I also saw that Fent just posted this in the "Rounds 4-7" thread, and it's a pretty impressive first draft for Allen and Shanny IMO.
Here's a bonus video of our new RT Capers from ESPN's "Sports Science"... he seems to fit the bill of a Shanny RT: quick feet, good puller, more powerful than his numbers dictate because of good technique.

I give the Skins draft a B+ and here's why.
On Thursday the Skins had four picks, only one of which was among the top 100. From that they got:
-Six players, three of whom are offensive lineman
-One of the draft's two franchise left tackle candidates
-An immediate contributor at punt and kickoff return
-A possible starter at linebacker
-A possible starter at fullback
-Two large project lineman that at worst should provide depth.
All-in-all it looks pretty good to me, especially if we are still looking to add a few more players at OL, LB and DB.

Guys, just think of it this way: if last year's FO had been in charge of this year's draft, we would have ended up with three picks and two of them would have been FB/TEs. This time we only got one.

I see things in a similar light, but I say B and here's why.
Yes, there were no undersized CBs. Yes, there was only 1 FB taken. The LB choice wasn't the best player on the board and isn't particularly special. The TE-soon-to-be-FB pick was a waste. In a league where maybe 2 or 3 FB are actually any good, you should almost never use a draft pick on a FB.
Before the 7th? I had this draft looking like a C-. The bookends made this draft a B.

I was surprised to see us pass up Campbell in the 4th and Tony Pike later. I thought Pike's mobility and tangibles made him a perfect fit for Shanny but boy I guess the league didn't hink to highly of the QBs in this draft.
As far as my draft grade I say its an A. Shanahan has an eye for talent in the later rounds so I trust his instincts. Its the time of year that we all look at footbal position by position and combine measuables but if the FB makes crushing blocks and a play or two next season all will be forgotten.
As far as the LB we got I think diagnosing plays was one listed as a strength and that was one of Antonio Pierces strengths. Playing a little LB in HS I know the quicker you read the play the less you have to deal with those guards but when you don't know what's going on it won't matter what your 40 time or bench press is. We'll have to wait and see...

...oh yeah and part of my grade includes the fact we didn't trade future picks to move into this draft. I think we had to really restrain ourselves to pay for the idiots who were in charge before in order to get back on track for the future. If Vinny were still here we would've lost a lot next years picks to get players too high...

Agree, the best part of this draft outside of the Williams pick was the future was left intact.

Yeah and I think that was somewhat mentioned earlier too but it can't be emphasized enough and cant go unrecognized. I bet Snyder was ready to lose his mind watching all those sexy picks go by round after round after round... Maybe Bruce locked him in a closet the whole weekend with some water and meal rations...

Love the picks. All positions of need, IMO, except for the TE/FB but I like him too. A real mauler.

I would have rather had . . .
Jon Asamoah G Illinois
John Jerry G Ole Miss
Major Wright FS Florida
Chad Jones FS LSU
. . . than Jeremy Jarmon
But overall I am happy with the 1st, 4th, and 7th rounds. And am optimistic about McNabb and what he can do for our offense.
