All our personal definitions of a "team cancer" aside, do you think Haynesworth is going to play out the next 3 years of his contract with the skins?
While I share hamburger's unease, I think his window of opportunity to get a new contract has closed and he must now wait until next offseason.
I think Haynesworth didnt create enough of an offseason distraction to force the skins hand in accepting less than equal value for him in a trade this offseason. He tried but it was hard for him and his agent to really justify taking any position stronger than "im only doing mandatories" or "the direction the skins D is going doesnt not suit my abilities".
Next offseason, Im guessing we will see a fully committed Haynesworth. Fully committed to forcing the skins hand and not blowing another offseason opportunity to get a new contract. Im thinking maybe having an "injury" conflict with the skins training staff and doctors during this season then in the offseason some strategically planned media leaks regarding haynesworth displeasure and non-trust of the skins doctors. Those dang doctors say he can play but he knows his body better than they do and they are exposing him to injury.
Not cool skins training staff, Im outta here. Agent, get me paid bitch!
For what its worth, I like Haynesworth, when he wants to be is a true bonafide force. He certainly was the deciding factor is several 4th and goal plays last year. But he is what the titans said he is. A beast for 8 games, a lamb for 2-4, and guaranateed to miss 4+ games a year. He is motivated by money, I dont buy into the argument that his stellar years also coincided with his contract years but I cant dismiss it whole-heartedly either.
Albert Haynesworth is a mercenary. He already got 32 mil of his guaranteed 40+ million here. Mercenaries dont play for pride or loyalty.
