"The quarterback in my opinion is the most important position in sports," Cooley said. "And yeah, I love Jason and I think he's an awesome guy, I'm happy for where he is now, but Donovan is a guy that's proved to be a winner. He's proved to win. So you can't take that for granted. I think that's a huge step up for us in that position."
I could not agree more, Mr. Cooley.

Same here JC. When I drove up in the DC area I used to love to listen to those guys. Anything Redskins related I love. So those guys fell in line. But looking back, they are morons.

Agreed, I used to tune in every once in a while if they were talking Redskins or Caps just because there is no alternative for local sports talk in the mornings. But I reached my breaking point a few weeks ago when they were blasting the Redskins coaching staff for putting Orakpo at OLB in the new 3-4. They went off about how the new staff is making the same mistakes as the previous staff and it is obvious that Orakpo is a natural DE and his pass rushing talent would be wasted with him at OLB.

I couldn't believe it, these guys are supposed to be sports guys but don't know the basic differences between a 4-3 and 3-4 defense? Pathetic. I don't have any respect for their opinions since it is obvious that they are just a gimmick and so there is no reason for me to listen. From now on I'll stick to Elliott in the Morning and save the sports talk for the ride home when the guys actually know what they are talking about.

I'd like to see more headlines about Cooley's performance on the field and less about his antics off of them.

It would be quite a headline if he were having success on the field in April, lol.

I've met a few of the guys since they were college friends of an old roommate. They are nice guys. That said, their lack of general sports knowledge is a little embarrassing. I know more about everything but college basketball than they do and I don't talk sports for a living. I would think that if I did, it would behoove me to bore myself to death making sure I read anything and everything I could to be in the know. They prefer to stick to the basics. What the hay though, they've made a lot of money doing it so......

Yeah, their sports knowledge is pretty poor. They were talking about the Caps this morning...I'm not a big hockey fan at all, but I was embarrassed for them.

Oh yeah, saying "donks" and "sillies" every 2 minutes grinds my gears.

Donkey, ricky, silly, all with a stupid Merlind accent makes it impossible for me to listen to. Cakes is the worst since he may as well be from Balmer with his marble-mouthed ricky donkey donkey ricky silly.

speaking of sportscasters who don't really talk about sports... welcome to ESPN 980

kornheiser is the worst. he'll talk about college basketball, even in the past 2 weeks... when you know, the season has ended (i know they're restructuring the tourney and all... but come on... there's the NBA playoffs, the NFL draft, etc.). then, after talking about sports for 5 minutes, he'll complain about something, and then blab on for 40 minutes about writers he knows. we get it dude - you used to be a writer and you hate the post. he'll say one un-funny thing, and his lackeys will laugh at him like he's Ra. now my dude, you're on sports radio - talk about sports for more than 1/4 of your show.

same thing with the sports reporters on 980. they talk about sports for like 1/4 of their show. i think steve czaban is a smart guy, but when he finds silly news headlines to read for half of their show, i lose respect for him. not to mention the P90X ads. we get it dude - you lost weight and they're a sponsor!

doc walker and J.T. hold their own occasionally, but they get wrapped up in nonsense issues and discuss them for way too long. then they laugh at their own jokes for the last 1/2 hour.

/rant.

kevin sheehan and thom loverro are the only dudes on that station who actually talk sports for the majority of their show, and hold valid opinions.
