Interesting thought regarding Alexander. I wonder if they considered pairing him next to fletcher and moving rocky back to the outside linebacker position.

Great read. I agree on everything, except the stuff about Thomas (surprise!). In particular, you were right on the money when you said that this will be "very odd year overall." I think the Skins will end up playing a number of unusual games this season. At least they will be keeping it interesting.

i wonder that we wouldnt be stronger with Rocky and Alexander flipped..But i have to trust the coaches on this one. it may be that Lo could play either position, but Rocky cant ??
given his obvious intelligence, i would not be at all surprised if Alexander takes over in the middle when Fletcher finally retires

Your remark about McNabb overthrowing Davis a little off. I've watched that play several times. If Davis doesn't turn around to catch the ball, just runs in a straight line and catches the ball over his shoulder (just like Cooley did on his TD catch), he would have walked in for a TD. That was all on Sleepy.

I'm having a really hard time figuring out this team too. After last week, that loss to the Rams is not stinging as bad. The Rams might actually be a decent team. Sam Bradford is making a huge difference there.
The sky is the limit with this team. It's going to be a crazy ride if we stay healthy. I'm really anxious to see how Ryan Torain progresses this year. I think we're watching Portis' replacement blossom before our eyes.
I'm hoping for 10-6 with a trip to the playoffs.

respectfully disagree. also, Keino posted a comment on this saying he watched it several times and the throw was clearly off. that one was on McNabb IMHO

Nah, it was not on the correct shoulder and he had to adjust to it. I watched it in slo mo just for that reason.

Top stuff Shally.
Great to see Lo Alexander getting props. He seems to be a true pro. Never thought of him as ILB before, but it makes perfect sense.
We've yet to see Riley play, and I'm looking to forward to see what he can contribute.
One thing I was considering during the week, was our fast starts and slow finishes. I was thinking this could be one of two things - the coaches failing to adjust to teams in the second half, OR the coaches doing a great job preparing the team, only for the lack of talent on our team to show as teams adjust to our game plan.

Great stuff, Shally.
That indeed was one super shocking win. All signs, after losing to the Rams in a lackluster effort, pointed to a beat-down by the Eagles. I guess we both under estimated just how much his teammates wanted to win for Donovan in his first return to Philly.
A warning to all Redskins opponents this season--beware of the last play before half time. There is some witchcraft (or just Christine O'Donnell doing her thing) going on. How else to explain Andy Reid's delay penalty after a timeout or Tony Romo's shovel pass to Tashard Choice?
Love the fact that Shanahan is working in younger Olinemen into the lineup--this Oline needs to get younger and soon.
Torain looks like a keeper, but Shanahan really can't take too much credit--not when he exposed Torain to waivers a month ago. Shanahan chose to keep two older receivers (Galloway and R.Williams) instead. Why? No team in the NFL or even Canadian League would be interested in those two. Instead, Shanahan took a gamble and waived Torain. He is fortunate that Torain is still here.
As for Sellers, I think he could play a critical role while Portis is out. How about playing him as the passing down back? Do you really trust any of the other RBs to protect McNabb?
As for Buchanon, you know that I am not a huge fan of his. But, I say we keep him. If nothing else, he can serve as the punt returner when the Skins are protecting a lead in the second half. Use Banks as a returner when we need a big return, but there is no way I would want him back there late in a game when the score is close. Did you notice that was exactly the way Shanahan was using Banks/Buchanon in the Philly game?
In regard to DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin, they had very little impact. But, according to Playbook on NFL Network, the Eagles had receivers open deep on many occasions, but in each instance Kolb chose to throw underneath for short gains. They showed films on 4-5 plays, which seem to confirm that assessment. They openly questioned whether Kolb was "afraid" to throw deep. Well, perhaps Haslet had figured out that Kolb (or Vick) would be reluctant to throw down field and game planned accordingly.
I think you are going to be right that this will be one of those totally unpredictable seasons. The Skins will probably now go on to beat GB, Indy, Philly, Tenn, Vikings, Giants and Cowboys and lose to the Bears, Lions, Bucs and Jags. That would give Wash 10-6 and a likely playoff spot. You would take that, wouldn't you?

Shanhan talks about exposing Torain to Waivers earlier this week. I think he deserves the credit he is getting and if you listen to that interview, I think you will gain a certain appreciation for the gambles he took relative to waivers when naming the Final 53 man roster.

I'm still a little nervous about Torrian as the feature back for the next month or so. Let's hope he stays healthy.
