Or just block better. I don't think those kicks were low, I just believe our middlemen got bulldozed.
I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

me either I think the blocking is the problem too, however broken bones in ones back could effect his performance...

Agreed. Blocking was a huge problem, but some of his kicks were low. Otherwise, I don't think Gano was a major problem. Time will heal his stress fractures and he should be okay. Bring in some competition, and see if someone can unseat him.

I would say it is time to move on or at least bring in real competition, not some bum.

I agree- he is not worth the time to cultivate.
He may have a strong leg, but so do most punters. There's a reason they don't kick FG's...cuz they can't put it between those two little posts!
His accuracy is atrocious...
68% in 2010
75% in 2011.
(20 kickers were 80% or better each of the last 2 years).
He also had the worst PAT% in the league last year.
This is an easy position to upgrade quickly & cheaply.

For those questioning Danny Smith, check this info out:
Quote:
|
For the second year in a row, the Redskins finished second in the NFL in kickoff coverage, allowing an average of just 20.8 yards per return.
|
Quote:
|
On punt coverage, the Redskins were 10th in the NFL, allowing 7.8 yards per return.
|
There were some inconsistencies as the article mentioned though
