Davies set to join United
Very, very exciting news:
"Charlie Davies is expected to join D.C. United in Ft. Lauderdale on Wednesday for a week-long evaluation period, which will include training and game time with the first team and a full medical evaluation by team doctors in D.C. Details of the 12-month loan have already been negotiated, but nothing will be official until D.C. United is satisfied Charlie is physically capable of playing at the level required to be successful in MLS. United currently holds the top spot in the league's allocation ranking and would therefore have first option to acquire Davies."

Assuming he is healthy, he'll get a great opportunity to build upon the momentum he was creating before the injury. He gives that front line some much needed punch.

I hope for the best for him, but if Sochaux is dumping him for basically nothing, it means that they think he's done more than likely.

The hope for United (and UMNT) fans is that Sochaux wasn't prepared to wait out a slower-than-expected recovery.
It'll be a shame on several levels if he's never able to return to his pre-accident form.

Thats the thing: they have enough forwards to sit Davies and a reserve squad where he can train. They don't think he's going to be able to come back to where he was.

They are French. Perhaps the surrender is premature, lol

My understanding is that Olsen is employing the same training tactics as his predecessor; emphasis on small sided training, maintaining shape, passing back in the offensive 3rd and waiting for the ideal attacking moment and not taking long shots.
This kind of system, while fundamentally correct, doesn't take advantage or encourage any creativity of a talented striker.

Still a long way to go, but not a bad way to start:
"In his first preseason match with D.C. United, forward Charlie Davies had a goal and an assist in the first half of a 5-1 victory over the Canadian under-20 national team Monday morning in Fort Lauderdale, Fla."

I'm sorta surprised this thread went dead. I think Davies has been a pleasant surprise. Good for him and United.
