"Redskins have released LG Derrick Dockery. Doc said Shanahan informed him today."

Wow that was a seriously quiet release... thanks for the hardwork and coming back to be a player for a while and a good teammate this year. Good luck at your next stop.

I remember reading that he just wasn't a good fit for the ZBS Shanahan wanted to run. Which was too bad, because in '09 it seemed like he would help stabilize the interior line. Hopefully he lands on his feet somewhere.

I could not believe the ridiculous contract that Snyderatto gave Dockery after Dockery fell on his face in Buffalo. Same thing with Smoot that same off-season when he got released from the Viking Ship. Anyway, Dockery can definitely still help someone if he wants to continue his career, but I don't see him getting more than a 1 or 2 year contract for about $1M per with no appreciable signing bonus. His Redskins 2.0 tenure was for all practical purposes over the minute Shanhan signed on as head coach.
Another guy who never played up to his talent level, coming closest during his walk year, but by all accounts a nice guy.

He got on my nerves with the penalties, but I always liked him as a player. Good luck to ya Doc.

No doubt. Shanny just didn't seem to like him in his system. We definitely gave him an absurdly large contract when he came back, but i still thought he was a decent player. Good luck to you dockery.

so, that pretty much leaves montgomery, lichtensteiger, hicks, and (maybe) mike williams (who has been off the game for a year). and, provided shanahan is a rational, intelligent man, he'll move either monty or lichtensteiger to center after we cut rabach.

we REALLY need to draft/acquire interior line talent... in the worst way.

Now all we need is for rabach to be gone and it will all be complete.

Yeah, I thought they'd drop Rabach before they dropped Dockery. Dockery was a nice guy and I hope he can squeeze a couple more seasons out in the NFL - even if its riding pine.

I cannot imagine that Mike Williams plays another down in the NFL with his condition. And he really doesn't fit the zone scheme any better than Dockery did. And Hicks really deserves to be cut as much as any of them do-he was a major disappointment last year, when they really had to rely on him. He is up there in years and may not have much left to offer.

Of course, you can only cut so many guys-you have to field a team next year. Don't you?
