I agree with Shally: Dandy Don is a good comparison, but Dalton has a better arm imo

Yeah, I was just making an observation about Baugh and Dalton being from TCU and A Ginger.

Normally, I prefer my Qbs to have souls, but I'll make an exception here.

hey ahk - i saw you mention something about brooks reed in an earlier DFA, but can't find it off hand. what are you thoughts on his positives/negatives and how he'd fit in for the skins? he intrigues me in the way that clay matthews intrigued me (long haired maniacs aside)

I don't like the Matthews comparison. I think he's closer to a high talent Jarret Johnson or a poor man's Shaun Phillips.

He's an attacker. You plug him into the OLB spot in a 34 and let him attack the ball. He's the kind of guy who should get you 5-9 sacks+2-5 turnovers+8-10 TFLs a year.
Positives: Hard worker, smart player, is ready to play tomorrow, good natural pass rush ability
Negatives: He'll really struggle in coverage. Not very athletic. He might not get any better than what he is now.

I wouldn't mind Reed in the 2nd. I'd rather deal for Jerry Hughes.

pretty much of a 1 trick pony now. can get after qb and chase down plays. cant hold the point and hasnt dropped into coverage.. hmmmmm who does that sound like ??

that is why i would prefer someone else with that pick

Actually I think that he can hold a point at the 260ish lbs he weighted in at. He's an attacker, and in that role he can be effective. Just make sure that there's a SS and a good ILB to cover.

with both Orakpo and this guy tearing after the qb, we will get a lot more sacks, but it will be at the cost of big plays broken on us. neither can cover anyone

Which why we would need a coverage ILB. We can either replace LoAlex or get an ILB who can attack.

He's not an attacker. I wouldn't mine putting Reed in that situ, but we could do better. You basically need a Lawrence Timmons: an ILB with an OLB skill set.
