If you look at the picture, it appears that only the first 5 or 6 rows of 417 are still there. I was in 417, row 7 and my old seat has been removed in that picture.
I didn't own the rights to those seats, me and my neighbor purchased them on a yearly basis from the rightful owner, who had rights to a few different sets of seats in the stadium. We stopped buying the season tix after the '08 season but he still had them and they have been available to us on a game by game basis. I don't currently know what the status is but I'm sure that our provider wasn't going to let any of his seats go, so he probably took an upgrade. I will be inquiring about it, once I know there will be a season.

Yeah, basically the entire end zone section of the uppers on the west side are gone except for the first 5 or so rows.
John, I remember when you came up to my section to introduce yourself. I think it was the Buffalo game when we were all mourning Sean T 21. Is that right?

Yes Rich I did and your right it was the Buffalo game. That’s why I am at security alert here lol. I never thought of my seats as end zone I guess so I am a bit surprised this goes over so far. what does everyone think the affect of this crap be on the seats next to it?
I am with Redskinny though. FEDEX is way to jammed up with people. Imagine that if they were doing well and FEDEX is full every game, which it is not now. This might be a good thing.
I have a problem though and maybe someone can chime in. The seating capacity is going down because there are seats going away. Does that really reduce the number of people though? Maybe you end up with people in seats plus the people in the stupid zone. End up with same number in the end?

It ends up with a lower number of general seating which are the tickets that have to be sold to prevent a t.v. blackout.

Right but in the end I am wondering about the number of bodies at the game. if it ends up being the same number due to the party deck then the net result is the same as far as too many people at the game. Heads are crammed, long lines, no room to breathe or turn around on the concourse during halftime etc... I assumed at first, along with Redskinny it seems, that there would be less people at the game.

I hope so. Now my next worry is the impact on my seat lol. Of course a winning home record will make it all good.

Benefits of the Party Deck
Over the years I've learned to not trust the Ticket Office. However, recently I've built a relationship with one person that I do trust.
He told me that after the two "party areas" are constructed which will take two years, the official capacity of Fedex "may" be reduced by over 10,000. The Redskins will offer standing room only tickets in the party area, but it will be far less than 10K. The net reduction may be around the 8K that the Post reported.
He believes that it will be difficult to see the field from the party area, but there will be monitors to view the game.
He states there will be improvements in traffic flow, restroom lines, time to get through security, and lines at concession stands. It will also be easier to purchase parking tickets.
I forgot to ask him if there will be new concessions and restrooms constructed in the party area. Also, it would be nice if there are tables and chairs similar to the Club Section (obviously, they won't be leather or cloth). It would be great to be able to eat, drink and socialize at a table.
In my opinion, the party decks will benefit those in the upper deck to a greater degree -- especially redrcing crowding in restrooms and concessions. It should also give options in regards to where to smoke, drink or eat.
The party decks will have far lesser impact on those in the LL. Traffic and security lines may be less, but the LL will still need to endure crowded concessions and restrooms, and will rarely venture into the party area in the UL.
It might also slightly improve resell prices of tickets, especially UL tickets. And I resell 2 or 3 of my games each year so I guess that's a benefit
For what it's worth, I'm in the club section, and last year, the Redskins ripped out a couple thousand club seats--around and behind the HD screens. This didn't get a lot of press. The Redskins call this the party area or zone, or something like that. I don't know how people get tickets (standing room only) to this area, and what it costs, but they get access to the club concourse. So we're in the second year of a 3-year project to reduce Fedex seating.
From a fan perspective, the changes appear positive.

But Rosenberg said the team hasn’t decided what, if anything, will replace the end zone seats, explaining that the impetus behind the project was to ease traffic congestion and lines at concession stands and bathrooms at the stadium in Landover.
“I’m saying what we removed from the stadium is to give people a little more room,” he told ESPN 980, a station owned by Redskins owner Daniel Snyder.
Redskins spokesman Tony Wyllie said in a telephone interview Thursday that the team still wanted to install the decks but had not made a final decision and needed to apply for permits for that phase of the renovation project.

You're telling me they removed seats without finalizing what will replace them? Yeah, I guess that waiting list crowd is just dying for tickets.

On the bright side, the only thing that will change Snyder's ways (IMO) is to hit him in the wallet. I'm glad to see Redskins fans wising up.

A top Washington Redskins official said the team had been unable to sell season tickets for the thousands of seats it removed from FedEx Field this summer, a rare admission by the franchise that demand for its in-stadium product has declined.
Lon Rosenberg, the vice president of operations at FedEx Field, said in a radio interview Wednesday that the approximately 10,000 removed upper deck seats had been offered to fans on the team’s season ticket waiting list, and that “these are seats that they were not wanting to buy.”

Its about time they unveil the truth about this BS ticket waiting list.
I'm all for a reduction in FedEx's seating. If they can't fill 10,000 seats with Skins fans, they would likely be filled with opposing team fans anyway...

Exactly. Ten thousand fewer fair weather jerks who sell their seats to Eagles and Cowboys fans.

In the end I see this as a good thing. I just can't stand the crowds. All we need now are some winning home ways and I will again really get excited about going. Past couple of years I am only excited to go to the opening game. The others are feeling like work due the the 8 hour total trip involved and lack of friends wanting to go. I am close to dumping my tickets.
