Personally, I don't think any of this stuff matters. So what if Obama was a Muslim? So what if Jindal is Hindu? We have freedom of religion in this country and I would love for a candidate to say, in answer to a question about religious views that "it's nobody's business but his/hers."

Couldn't agree with you more. Sadly, I think you can voice this opinion and it will probably cost you an election.

It would. It's sad how many people do not understand the principles upon which this country was founded.

Easy there hippie. This is America, not France. We don't like our freedom too free, especially when it comes to making sure our elected officials worship the proper god(s).

i agree.. it is no issue for me.. bit i can tell you that there is NO way Obama would have gotten elected in 2008, or re elected in 2012 if he admits to be Muslim

I think I'd have trouble voting for a Muslim for President.

That's honest of you, but it's not something I get on any level.

From a religious perspective, I have far more issues with a religion that worships multiple gods and holds cattle sacred than I do a religion that acknowledges its foundations as the same as Judaism and Christianity.

And unfortunately I don't think you're in the minority. The reason we end up with so many crappy elected officials is as a society we focus on things that don't really matter - religion, marital fidelity, past drug use, etc.

It would be hard for him to "admit" to being one since he's not one lol.

There's a lot more to it than that. There are Muslims all over who, if given the chance, would commit some form or terrorism. They are mainstream folks too. This isn't some anti-Islam hysteria or some right wing boogieman. Unfortunately, it is legit and there are even people a few blocks from me that certain relatives of mine were told are there.

Not that any guy running for President would be a threat of any kind. I just don't trust all the crazies.

Yikes. At least you're owning it, I guess.

I expected this response. Funny how people can say what they want about Mormons. Sorry but I don't have to pretend all faiths are equal. Some are inherently more of a threat to this country.

Yea, I guess I just don't buy the "people all over waiting for a chance" notion. I have Muslim family members and friends all of whom view terrorist acts in the name of Allah as a perversions of their faith, just as the KKK perverted Christianity with their terrorist tactics done in Jesus' name stamped with the burning symbol of the faith. In addition, there would be a rather long public account of what the guy/gal did before running for POTUS.

As to your Mormon point, I don't see people saying they won't vote for a Mormon ever and I certainly think that the issues people have with Mormons are the polygamy and racism that seem to be part of the dogmatic doctrine even though those things aren't necessarily true of today's Mormon church.
