Ryan Kerrigan Interview
http://burgundyblog.com/post/7572396457/rk
A nice little interview I noticed on Profootballtalk. I'm really psyched about this guy and I feel that he's going to be a difference maker for our defense. Kerrigan has a tough transition ahead of him, but he appears to have all the intangibles and work ethic to be successful.
14 forced fumbles my goodness... Tthis guy is going to destroy QB's with Orakpo for years to come.

i must admit that when we drafted him, i just kinda thought "ok...". i hadn't really read a lot about him leading up to the draft, because i was assuming we'd go after someone a little better suited to the OLB spot (a la aldon smith, cameron jordan, akeem ayers in the 2nd, etc.).
since then, i've become pretty excited about this guy. if he transitions to OLB well, i think we might have a really good player on our hands. the thought that we could have our OLB spots secured is a good one indeed.

I think drafting Kerrigan and having Landry at FS, Haslett is trying to replicate what the Steelers are doing. We are missing a NT though.

Landry will be playing at SS, with Atogwe as FS, but I agree... I believe Haslett is trying to replicate the Steelers 34 (instead of the Packers 34, for example).

i am very impressed with the way kerrigan has played his first two games. he seems to have a nose for the ball, and while still iffy in coverage, he's getting better. i worry about him less and less and have come to expect him to make plays more and more, which is great.

I thought he might be a guy who would be over-matched in the NFL. Now I see him as one of these guys with a BIG HEART and non-stop motor that will surprise a lot of people. He and Orakpo are going to be the bane of QB's.

I was impressed by the bull rush today.
Kerrigan seems to have good instincts for the game.

Transitional questions regarding Kerrigan's football athleticism were answered rather quickly vs New York... His attitude inspires his best days can always be in front of him --- good quality.

One thing that continues to impress is his pass awareness and ability to get his hands up at the right time. He's already got two tips (at least) and you can see how focused his is on getting his hands up in time. I look forward to seeing him improve.

Absolutely! While I agreed with the concerns about puttign a square peg in a round hole concerns, I AM PUMPED we have Kerrigan. I love high motor guys who give a damn out there... I'm sure he missed plays (I missed the game due to a funeral) and that happens with every rookie, but HOT DAMN I am fired up. I want people who care on this team.

Kerrigan just won NFL defensive rookie of the month. Well deserved, too. Congrats, Kerrigan.

I really like the strip he got on Romo. He was being blocked out of the play, but still managed to swat the ball out of Romo's hands as he stepped up in the pocket. Great awareness.
