Default 2011 Fantasy Football Advice Thread

Hope dj won't mind me starting this thread. But I thought we'd get it started today.

Good luck to everyone in their leagues this year.

Mike.

I sure hope so. I am in a dynasty league in which I traded for him in the off-season and I need him to step-up for me in a big way.

I don't see him as any better than a number three. Amendola will give you better numbers in a PPR league.

Didn't he recently have a couple good seasons as the Jags WR1 though? He has injury problems, but seems to produce well when playing. I gambled on him with one of my fantasy teams, but I think it'll really come down to finding chemistry with Bradford. Remember he made Mark Clayton look good.

He had a good year in '09 but Thomas was the top WR last year in Jax. That's why he was expendable. He could be a TD guy but I wouldn't expect him to lead the team in catches.

That's mostly because Simms-Walker was banged up alot last year. When healthy he was very productive.

Just drafted my main league...12 team standard scoring

QB- Michael Vick
RB- Tim Hightower
RB- Beanie Wells
WR- Megatron
WR- DeSean Jackson
W/R-Reggie Bush
TE- Jimmy Graham
D- New England
K- Gano

Bench- Austin Collie, Lance Moore, Jaquizz Rodgers, Delone Carter, James Starks, Joe Flacco

I had the 12th pick, just couldn't pass up Vick. I actually couldn't believe he made it that far. Seemed like a pretty flashy team so I changed my name to "Swingin For The Fences".

If your team stays healthy you did well. You're a little soft at RB but Wells and Hightower could work. I would have picked up Helu as the handcuff to Hightower. Considering you got a top QB and two top WR's, taking a chance at RB was smart. You can always add someone who steps up during the year too. Be a hawk on the WW.

What do people think of Cooley at TE this year?
I think I have a good team in a 10-teamer, but waited late to draft TE and went with Cooley and Zach Miller.

QB: Rotlisberger, M Ryan
RB: CJ, Felix Jones, Beanie Wells, Mark Ingram, Tashard Choice
WR: Roddy White, Larry Fitzgerald, Dwayne Bowe, Hines Ward
TE: Cooley, Miller
K: Gostkowski
DEF: <Insert one a week> San Diego

I don't think Cooley is worth drafting at this point. I like your team. Good spread of talent at all positions except maybe TE. Of course after Gates and Finley, there aren't any TE's who are difference makers.

Here's my team. Keep in mind two things: One, we have set position limits and starters 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1 TE, 1K, 1DST. Also my league starts bonus points at 100 yards for RB's and WR's, 250 for QB's and 50 for TE's.

Brees, Flacco
Rice, Forte, Felix Jones and Cedric Benson
Wayne, Britt, Floyd, Mike Thomas, Jacoby Ford and Brandon Gibson
Finley and Jared Cook
Kaeding and Succop
Chargers

I like what I got in Brees, Rice and Forte. I never care too much about WR's because they don't win titles and I always end up on the WW for at least three of mine if not more during the year.

What RBs were available at #12? Taking Vick definitely set you back at RB. Assuming he stays healthy all year, he may be able to offset some of the points dropoff from Hightower/Beanie. I like Hightower a lot, but I've been burned by Shanny RBs over my years in FF. I agree with Dave - handcuff him with Helu. This could be Beanie's year, but we have been hearing that since the day he was drafted.

I dig the QB-tandem. You could play the matchup each week. Your WRs are the stars of your team. Hopefully you get to start (3) WRs a week so you can get White/Fitz/Bowe in there.

I love the Ingram pick. Hopefully you got him low and with some value. He could explode this year.

I'd dump Cooley and pick up a RB handcuff or sleeper WR. No need to hold (2) TEs unless their bye week is close. Plus, there is always 1 or 2 TEs that seem to breakout over the first three weeks of the season.
