Penn State scandal/JoePa fired
Penn State AD takes "leave" (soon to be permanent, I'm guessing) and a senior VP resigns.

Someone who's good with photoshop should do Herbert from Family Guy wearing a Penn State shirt.

Penn State just cancelled JoePa's press conference. That's pretty gutless.

They were emailing around pre-approved questions for the press to ask last night.

It is completely unacceptable. Penn State has a football game coming up in a few days and there are a few coaches (also known as state employees) who deserve to have their employment questioned.
First and foremost being this guy:

Joe Paterno’s tenure as coach of the Penn State football team will soon be over, perhaps within days or weeks, in the wake of a sex-abuse scandal that has implicated university officials, according to two people briefed on conversations among the university’s top officials.
The board of trustees has yet to determine the precise timing of Paterno’s exit, but it is clear that the man who has more victories than any other coach at college football’s top level and who made Penn State a prestigious brand will not survive to coach another season. Discussions about how to manage his departure.

Word is that Paterno's kid is working on arranging an off-campus news conference for JoePa.
The old man sure is anxious to tell his side of the story.

Paterno "retiring." If I was the board of trustees, I would let him coach saturday(the final home game), then fire his ass.

I think he is the one (outside of Sandusky himself) that most people are having a problem with. He walked in, saw it happening and quietly slid out. Did nothing to stop it or in any way protect that kid. And I get that Sandusky was his father's friend, his childhood friend's father and that he himself played for Sandusky, but really? Not a Throat Clearing or "Jerry WTF".
I'd like to think that most people could set aside the personal relationship and protect that kid and get him out of that situation.

Watching a kid get raped and doing nothing about it is bad enough, but this is a guy who should have had a real big problem when he realized the AD hadn't called the cops and Sandusky was still walking free.
Paterno told the Grand Jury that he wasn't made aware of exactly what Sandusky had done to the kid the shower - this A-hole has no such excuse.

I don't buy that for a second. The grad assistant should have called the cops right then and there, but there's no way that he told Paterno that "Sandusky was showering with a kid." No way.

Paterno testified he was told about more than just showering, but he is saying he wasn't told the full extent of what happened. Paterno was not present during the meeting where McQueary told Curley and Schultz exactly what he witnessed.

I remember reading that McQueary said that he told Paterno what happened and Paterno downplayed the allegation to the AD. I don't get why McQueary is being slammed for this, he did what he was supposed to: go to the boss with what happened and let him make the decision. Paterno and everyone "Above" him failed badly.
