Again, your point is correct. Finding the right player and fitting the system around them is far more important than where they were drafted, rankings, etc.

and it should be remembered that Denver moved up from 15th to select Cutler at 11.. Shanahan will move to get the guy he really wants in the upcoming draft

Well, I don't have a lot of confidence in Shanny's ability to evaluate currently but I'm definitely not sweating whether or not he will get the guy he wants. Acquisition has never been a problem here, utilization, on the other hand...

Judgment... when it comes down to it, it has not been the method we have used, but the personnel judgment by those in charge here that has doomed us for 2 decades
after the head coach, a possibly even before him, it all starts with the starting qb.. we are NEVER going to be competitive until we are at least on an equal footing with the rest of the NFC East, if not the NFC as a whole

Got that elusive 4th win. Awesome.
Luck, Barkley, RGIII, R2D2, we're not getting any of them. I guess this is how Shanahan screws up QB #5.
At least we finally got to see what Grossman, Moss, & Stallworth can do.

i tend to disagree a bit on the qb draft.. i believe that Luck will go #1 and the next guy will go before #5, but in the end, i think at least one of the top guys is going to fall to around the 10 spot.. at that point, if Shanahan wants him, he can make a move up to get him..

This may be true (and I have my doubts). However, without this latest win, which is about an 23592875298375 on a 1-10 retarded scale, we might have been able to just sit tight at #3 or, even better, #2, take the guy we want, and not give up anything more with picks that would have been absolutely vital to us.

So yes, you can land a franchise QB with the 11th overall pick. I don't think where we pick will matter, it's going to come down to scouting as another poster stated earlier.

Rodgers was however the secondo QB taken overall in the draft, and was about a 50/50 shot to go #1 overall. I doubt there is that kind of situation in this draft.

I don't see this year's draft playing out as "slow" as last year as far as QB's. It will ultimately depend on the final draft order and how many teams that are QB hungry are ahead of us. The QB's haven't been graded completely, but the one's that do get scouted like franchise I think will be flying off the board prior to 10. We'll see I guess I would have slept a lot better through April if we didn't win another game, and Luck is more than likely out of range, which is one less option for us.
The other thing, as Spicy mentioned already, it would have been nice not to have to burn picks to move up and get our guy. We potentially could have ended up with 4 starters with a full hand of picks, and that's how things turn around quickly.
Shanahan will try to win week 16, God bless him, we don't need that right now.

LMAO .......... you all are going to stress yourselves out thinking (dreaming) about which QB the Skins are going to draft.
One question ........ What makes you think that Shanahan will want to draft a QB "THIS" year. He has stated in the past that you start with a solid defense. ......... Ummmm, I don't think the Skins are set at ILB, or DB yet. I'm betting that it's another defensive player in the first round UNLESS, there is the #1 WR on the board.

Riley had another 14 tackles yesterday.. Fletcher will play another 2 or 3 barring injury.. unless you see another Patrick Willis, there is no ILB worth a top 10 pick-- and i dont think anyone is coming out there like that in 2012
does Shanahan like losing that much he will risk rolling with Rex again in 2012 ??

I agree with what your saying. Teams will de-construct some of the top players and before you know it, some of those top 5 picks become mid round picks.

I'm a little nervous about the lack of elite prospects at positions that teams like in the top 10 ATM. One of the big 3 junior offensive tackles (asuming they come out) could grab a spot there along with Morris Claiborne but I don't see the pass rushers and defensive tackles at the moment. People talk about Blackmon but wide receivers usually (there are always exceptions) go that high when there is a check mark next to everything and that includes a fast 40 time. You also have Trent Richardson but he's not a lock because of the position he plays.
Overall we really want all 3 junior OTs to come out, a couple of defensive linemen to blow up the combine and maybe another CB like Dre Kirkpatrick to raise their status significantly.

i show us picking 9th, behind all those with a record worse then 4-7 Indy, st. louis, Minn, Carolina, jacksonville, Miami, and behind az & kc because of SOS. A loss by the Giants could lower our SOS but I am not sure it will be enough to leapfrog either kc or az.

We just need to be ahead of Miami and or Seattle asuming both Griffin and Barkley come out. If one of them stays and we're still picking 9th, good luck to everyone.

I'm more worried about Barkley staying in school, just because USC is going to be freakin' loaded next year and he doesn't get to play in a bowl game this year. I'm hoping that his stock is just too high to rationalize the risk.
