Jmo, but I think he's hoping that someone gives him a contract on his "potential"(good luck with that) and having the surgery will kill that money because he'll be out for a full season effectively.

Should have had the surgery when they put him on IR. Maybe he would be ready to play and get back into it by the next season.

Maybe he will go join his brother in Jacksonville to form an all-Landry safety tandem for the 3 games per year that they will both be healthy. He is done as a Redskin, all we can do is hope that someone throws him a contract that will help trigger a 3rd- or 4th-round draft pick as compensation from teh NFL. That is highly unlikely, given his stubborn refulsal to have the surgery. I don't understand what he is thinking.
I never got the feeling that he ever bought into being a great player for us. He always seemed to be in his own world, part of the team yet floating around seperate from it. Maybe a new environment with a strong front office and coaching and a strong locker room will help revitalize his career. I was hpoing when we hired Shanahan that players would want to be here to win, as opposed to only wanting to get paid (it is okay to want both, so long as getting paid doesn't dull the player's drive to win).
I supported drafting Landry when we made the pick (envisioning the Dynamic Duo that was taken away from us). I have to admit, when I watched the 49ers-Giants game on Sunday, I couldn't help wondering how things would have been different if we had drafted Patrick Willis instead. He was pretty much a can't miss prospect, and I think he plays with a lot more heart and consistency than Landry ever has. Oh well.

My honest opinion is that this is a play by he and his agent to force the Skins to allow him to shop himself in free agency. I think he's over being in DC and honestly, who can blame him?

unbelievable. just get it fixed, rehab and be done with it. he will be drawing it out for 2 years now. bad for the team, bad for the player, bad for the long term for both.
only silver lining is that we will know if it works by may. if it doesn't expect surgery and him to be on PUP list to start the year.

The worst part of this, is that the surgery is a very minimally invasive one.

Heard on the radio yesterday that Shanny hasn't actually talked to Landry to confirm this and the beat reporter called LL who told him that he's finishing up one more cycle of rehab before making a final decision. Whatever he's involved in now has another month or so to go, and apparently he hasn't ruled out the surgery entirely, even though it was recommended for him months ago and it wouldn't make sense to do it in the spring considering rehab time, his contract situation, etc. I was advocating putting the franchise tag on him earlier but at this point I think they have to let him shop himself and only resign him to a cheap one year deal with protections if that's what it comes to.

Good luck getting a max deal on a bum Achilles. As long as he stays out of the NFC East I don't care where he goes.

Man you said a mouthful here. I concur. Let Landry go. He is not worth the effort nor the contract he is most certainly going to demand.

I'd rather give Zbikowski, James Sanders or Leonhard an overpriced deal then give Landry even a 1 year, incentive laden deal. Landry has talent, but he's the poster boy(one of them) for what's wrong with the franchise.

It sickens me to see his potential go to waste. He's a beast when healthy. But I think Carlos Rogers is telling him how great it is to have a change of venue.
Unless he can clear up the achilles problem, he will continued to be plagued with Achilles & hamstring problems. He's not worth it. Just a good memory when he played healthy for us.

the guy from Oakland may be available-- especially if they use a franchise tag on Bush
but we also will draft someone this year because Gomes hasnt shown enough to be trusted.. and THe Witness, is, well, ...he's the Witness...
I also think this made the odds of keeping Atogwe to over 90 %.. we wont replace both and Landry just made the decision for the team

Goldson from SF is a free agent and better suited as a SS. They have a lot of contract decisions to make and he might be available.
