Never should have gone seven so this is what we get. When you don't end series when they should end, you will almost always lose game 7. Ask the 2004 Yankees.

Agreed. Caps let at least two games get away from them. They got outplayed last night, but could legitimately have won the series in 5 or 6 games.

While I don't hate what Hunter did this season, I want the Caps to do something they haven't done in forever: hire a coach with legitimate NHL coaching experience, preferably one who has been to the Finals.

I've heard Ron Wilson's name thrown out there. He's been to the Stanley Cup, ha ha.

Not surprisingly, Hunter has stepped down.

Let's hope they can find somebody good. With a few tweaks, there is enough talent in that room to win a Cup next season.

Caps look good defensively. I just think they need a little more offensive talent and depth.

They need to better utilize the offensive talent they have, along with maintaining the good stuff they were doing defensively.

Adding another elite center is a must.

It's the other way around. They have to play shut down defense because they aren't loaded with talent there. Wireman has to go and Green too and be replaced by real defenders. Add in a center too and they should be good. I don't see any reason why Holtby isn't going to be a star.

Wideman will obviously be gone, and will be replaced more than adequately by Orlov. They could maybe use one more depth defender, but it's going to depend on what kind of money they have to play with after re-signing John Carlson.

What they'll do with with guys like Green and Semin should depend on the philosophy of the next coach, which is why that needs to get figured out sooner rather than later.

Anyone know of a better CAPS discussion board than the one related to NHL.com?

The usual banter after CAPS lose in playoffs is "blow everything up" and "fire everyone". And I am looking for smarter discussion on things like who should replace Hunter.

I am a big fan but they only get my attention during the playoffs and my knowledge of the coaching circles is limited.

I Never got into hockey, but how close are the capitals to your heart with respect for how crazy you obviously are for the Redskins?

I think our passions go to the teams with whom we have had exciting moments - mostly positive. I grew up during the 'Skins Super Bowl years so that developed my passion for the team.

During the "void" of the last 10 years, and only the Caps have come closing to providing me with "thrilling" moments. At least they have been competitive, though heartbreaking at times.

The are a distant 2nd Nats and the Wizards, well.... just suck.

That is one of the big risks for Snyder losing the fan base. If we have another 10 years of suckitude with the Redskins, a whole generation will grow up (and another will fade away) without experience more team success. And the attendance and passion WILL drop if this happens. I remember the heyday of the Wizards around the time they won their only Championship in 1978. Now they are a laughing stock.
