EDIT: I read the rest of your posts. You are defending the douchebag because you ARE a douchebag. Makes sense.
Go on though, I think you were just defending this douchebag.

No I don't know anyone injured by a drunk driver. On the other hand I know people who have been maimed by "distracted drivers" (texting, changing cd's).
I'm in favor of handing out punishments to people who cause harm to others. Making poor decisions tends to catch up with people.
Once you're in an accident, does it matter if the other driver was drunk or distracted?

Oh my God, I hope for humanity's sake that you're trolling.
I'm going to have to remove myself from this conversation before I get banned.
I hope you don't have to learn the hard way how horribly backwards your thinking is.

I don't support DUI's or anything but the laws are ridiculous. He will probably get off because he refused the breath test. He should have refused the field test too. Basically, without the breathalyzer or any real evidence, the state only has an idea that he was intoxicated. I would bet good money this gets plead down and doesn't see the inside of a courtroom.
Also, while he should have called a cab or car service to get home, I am not ready to slash and burn his character over one incident.

Also, the next personal attack on a poster will buy you a few days off. Stop it.

Brian Mitchell talked on the radio about one time where he drove to a bar one night expecting to have a drink or two and head home. A couple of hours later, he realized it had been a pretty crazy party and he was wasted. Apparently he couldn't find a cab, so he had the bright idea to call his car insurance company to have his car towed home (he had a couple of free tows for any reason under his policy). If he can find a way out of that situation and get home safe, anyone can.

I pray those who are so obviously flippant about Drinking and Driving never have to face the consequences caused by such actions.

Also he's African-American. There are still waaaaay too many Driving While Black charges for me to quickly take the cops word for it about "odor of alcohol."

I would ask you to back this up but I know you will veer off topic and then complain about it going off topic. Arlington is an excellent department and the area he was stopped is a known DUI "trap". Sometimes it helps to know things.

In general I think black people are still stereotyped by police in this country. Because of that reason, I don't instantly trust reports like this.
It wasn't a critique of the particular police department which arrested him.

I'm fairly certain that in VA refusing the tests results in an automatic license suspension. It might get you out of the related DUI requirements, but you still ain't driving for 6 or 12 months.

So shooting a gun into a crowd of people is perfectly legal to you?
Because if they are a bad shot and dont hit anybody, everything is peachy keen? We only have to punish if they actually hit someone.
I think its safe to say that passing a law that "Shooting a gun into a crowd of people is illegal" is perfectly fine. Regardless of the fact that there is a 99.9% chance that someone will be hit, its ok to punish the .1% of the bad shots out there because of it being a careless and reckless action.
Same with drunk driving. We all have to accept a degree of danger when driving to where we need to go. Accidents can happen at any time. But there is no reason that we should accept the chance of that said accident growing significantly. It is perfectly fine to try and limit actions that have a much greater result of ending in possible death for innocent people, such as drunk driving.
Fact is, that death could have been just around the corner. And the Police Officer who stopped Meriweather "could have saved a life".
I think it would be perfectly fine if the NFL made a rule that any player that refuses a breathalyzer is automatically punished.

Nah, like I said, they don't have the evidence therefore the refusal is the only charge that will stick so they will plea it down since the CA's all know they aren't beating whoever it is he hires.

Most of us did some dumb things when we were young. This is probably magnified when you're young and recently made extremely rich. Still, if you've got the $$$$ and you're going out for more than one drink, why not hire a limo?
