Interesting article
link
I have been pondering whether it is possible that RGIII will make more money in endorsement deals than he will make in NFL salaries over the duration of his tenure in Washington. If he's healthy, performs as advertised and helps this team be a contender in the NFC, there's no limit to his endorsement potential. He's already on board with Adidas, Gatorade, Castrol Oil, Subway, EA Sports and Evo-Shield (am I missing anything here?).
According to this article, the sticking point in contract negotiations had less to do with "offset language" and more to do with keeping the Redskins front office from meddling in RGIII endorsement deals.
My thinking is that if he plays up to his expectations, and he doesn't have a Tiger Woods-esque meltdown off the field, his endorsement value will be greater than his player's salary over the short-term. If he develops into a premier quarterback with Brees-like stats, he will be one of the highest paid athletes in the world, both in player contract revenues and endorsement deals.

He certainly has the charisma and talent to be this. Hopefully he'll get enough support to make it happen. Skins are due for a turnaround, and RGIII blossoming would make it grand.

Look for a signature series of Adidas RGIII shoes - the running/track/football equivalent of Air Jordans. He wore Evo-Shield at Baylor and ate at Subway. Based on this logic, who else would he endorse? Here are a couple of guesses:
Army: He strongly supports the troops
Automobiles: Probably an American-made brand
Mobile Devices: Apple
Any other guesses?

Great article in WaPo on RGIII's journey to the Redskins. I especially liked it when he had dinner with the Redskins brass the night before his pro day, casually took off his green Baylor hoodie, only to reveal a Redskins t-shirt with a large logo on the chest.

Some people will do anything for free money. the sad thing to me is that somebody else will try to exploit him for money again.
