Default Former Redskins Great ailing

Charlie Harraway, who played for the redskins in the 1970s has been diagnoised with early onset of altheimers disease.he was one of my fave redskins when i was a kid,and i hate to hear this.

There’s also information on ex-Redskins running back Charley Harraway, who recently told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that doctors told him he’s showing early signs of Alzheimer’s.

“Fortunately, it hasn’t gotten to the stage where I can’t drive, or I’m putting my keys in the refrigerator and all that,” Harraway told the paper.

Haven't heard his name in years. Damn shame that you only hear or read their names when something tragic happens. Only the best of luck to him and his family.

There was a huge difference in how the game was played in the 1970s up until now.these guys are a lot safer and the advancement in medical procedures and technology has helped todays players.i expected 75% of the players from way back then will eventually die from an affect they got while playing back then.i love the game, but i hate to see guys suffer so much for entertainment
purposes basically!

With what Harraway knows now about the consequences of multiple concussions, if he could go back in time, "I would find another avenue for employment."
Just breaks my heart. It kills me these guys are paying such a huge price for playing the game we love to watch.

we can go back and see that head trauma may have been the cause of many of people's problems.general george patton had a lot of head injuries over his whole life, including many concussions he got from playing football and from playing polo and falling off of his horse.he had a lot of symptoms that a lot of today's sports stars that ended killing themselves had.would not shock me in the least if patton had CTE like junior seau, dave dureson,or andre waters did.
and who knows?Hitler's father beat the hell out of him every day,put him in a coma once or twice, maybe head trauma turned him into the mean lowdown sob he turned into!?

Sad news. I think it may be difficult to draw a direct correlation between playing football and early onset Alzheimer's in this case. I'm not saying that head trauma isn't a contributing factor, but most people who develop Alzheimer's disease start displaying symptoms after age 60. Harraway is 68.

I remember watching him as kid. He and Larry Brown were a great tandem. I wish he and his family the best.

Similar to smoking, I feel bad for the older generatio & not the people who choose to do it now.

Unselfish, fast and brutal. He played with wild abandon. He went airborne near the goal line. A favorite of Lombardi and Allen.

My prayers are with him and his family during this difficult time.
