Normally I would agree. But Shanny's ability to pull RBs out of nowhere means that depth isn't a problem.

Your opinions aren't facts. Outside of "helu wear down and get injured," you only offer your opinions in this blurb.

This is what you said:
"Also, you can hate on Hall all you want, but none of those guys you list are going to provide the level of play Hall does, even with Hall coming off a bad season. The team can create cap room if needed, if his cap charge were a major issue it wouldve been taken care of by now."

I answered the part I underlined in another comment. Your opinion(again, not fact or a valid point) is that if Hall's cap charge was an issue it would have been "taken care of by now." Thats asking me to disprove a negative.

You didn't make any valid points in this quote.

So by this logic, why didn't the skins sign Peyton Manning(as soon as he passed the physical) instead of drafting RG3?

The redskins, without Jones or Minnifield, have 8 Cbs on the roster. How exactly do they not have the depth to wait until late in the preseason again?

Of a lot of silly things you've written, using the Redskins' official twitter account as proof of anything has to take the cake.

Lmao. Your opinions aren't facts(still). Obviously this season is going to be you in increasingly more desperate defending of Shanahan from any criticism(no matter how mild or not actually directed at him), have fun with that. But I will continue to laugh at your attempts at logic.

What I don't understand is why we have to cut him to put him on IR? How come we can't just put him on IR now since he is already on the roster?

I really don't know a ton about these rules, but could it be that if they IR now instead of waiving him he'd have to count against their 90? If they know he's out for the season it's probably a risk worth taking to make sure they get another live body into camp.

David Jones is a great guy who had a couple of injuries. Was a 4th round pick and is a big corner. Also, he lives in CLT and I trained him all off season. So if he can work his way into a roster spot, I will have a good contact for some information. He will definitely be able to make some noise as a gunner and/or blocker on PR.

For sure. Being the 90th guy signed isn't a great start, but hopefully he can show something!

the rule about waiving a guy before you put him on IR is designed to keep teams honest i think, it keeps teams from just stashing players on IR at will. the rule is different for vets and younger players too. id have to look into it more to truely explain it correctly...

and this is were you get pretty ridiculous about things that its quite laughable. its pretty evident youre only acknowledging the facts you want to and dismissing/ignoring the rest because they dont mesh with your opinion. i cant take you seriously in this discussion anymore and here is why:

1) helu/royster have never played a full 16 game season as a starter, hence no one knows if theyre capable of handling a full seasons workload as a starter. FACT. NOT OPINION, BUT FACT.

2) helu wore down and got injured. the one FACT you were able to bring yourself to acknowledge

3) royster had fresh legs late in the season from not playing early in the season, while guys that had played all season didnt have fresh legs. FACT.

4) hightower was unsigned at the time of the draft. FACT.

5) sometimes players struggle to return from injury and arent the same upon returning to the field as they were prior to the injury. FACT.

also, what does this have to do with defending shanahan? nothing. you throw the same lame "defending shanahan" thing out all the time while constantly ignoring any truths that dont fit your ideas of team building. this has nothing to do with shanahan, it doesnt matter if he or belichek or mccarthy or tomlin or whoever is coaching the team. this is about making prudent football decisions, and keeping minnifield around with a bum knee and tying up a camp roster spot is not prudent nor smart. there is no benefit to keeping him on the camp roster, there is a benefit for trying to put him on IR now and its that we can bring in another guy who is capable of competing. you can laugh if you want, i actually feel pretty bad for you that youre unable to grasp such simple concepts. ive never seen someone so upset over a guy who has never proven a thing in the NFL got waived off a football team to go on IR or potentially get claimed by another team....

Couldn't they have PUP listed him (thus clearing the roster spot) and then IR'd him? Or does the PUP list not open up a roster spot?

During the preseason you can pup a player, but move them out of it anytime you want. I believe it takes up a roster spot. But again: the skins have 8 Cbs on the roster even without Jones/Minnifield, they clearly are flooding the position with bodies and could have waited on Minnifield to Pup list(then IR) him if they wanted to make sure of keeping him.

From the interwheb-
"While players are on the PUP list, they are not allowed to practice. As soon as they participate in any practice, if only for a few minutes, they must come off the PUP list and are not allowed to join the PUP list later in the year. While on the PUP list, players do not take up a roster spot. If they are still on the PUP list once the season begins, they will have to miss the first six games of the regular season. After that, they will have three weeks to start practicing again, and another three weeks after they start practicing to be placed on the regular season roster."

IMO the Skins made this move because 1)Minnifield is in bad shape and odds are nobody takes a flier on him, 2)they wanted to address the spot before camps kick off and injuries begin to rack up and thin the pool. It's likely also that they already can pinpoint a few of the guys who are unlikely to make it so why not add a kid with some experience.

Thanks for the info. So the skins could just pup list him, then move him to the IR.

Moes post is incorrect, or maybe better said, incomplete. The rules for the regular season PUP are correct, but training camp rules are different...

PUP list players in training camp DO count against the active 90 man training camp roster. they do not count against the regular season 53 man roster. no matter how you slice it, the only way to get him to IR without tying up a roster spot of any kind is to waive him and then IR him if he clears waivers. So no they cannot PUP list him in training camp to free his roster spot towards the 90 man limit.

This is all about freeing up a roster spot for an able body to come in and compete now...

Thanks for the clarification. I got that from an article about the Bucs and it didn't really address the roster situation for pre-season since the players being discussed therein are going to be on their roster.

Maybe that is exactly why he picked a running back in the late rounds rather than Minnifield! Maybe he is one of those running backs that just got "pulled out of nowhere"! We just don't know it yet.
