Though this is a surprise, it does make sense from one perspective. Champ's worth a lot, most of us would agree...but not what he is asking. I mean come on...$55 million over 9 years is AMAZING! Is this just a way of testing the waters and maybe proving to Champ and his agent what Champ's true worth is? Will anyone pony up the kind of $$ Champ is requesting. I say let him see...as long as the Skins have the option to match or trade or the franchise thing. I mean if two sides can't agree on the sale price of a car, they ask the sales manager. Champ and his agent want to ask around...let em do it.

Well, the article does say that even when talks are allowed, trades are rarely consummated and we can still refuse any trades we wish. Still surprising to me that they would take this step this soon.

Champ is in no way worth what they're asking for. Take the picks in this very deep draft, sign a FA cb and move on. Champs play last year demonstrated that he didn't want to be here.

I think we need to take a step back and look at the whole picture. How good have we done with him? Does he want to be a Redskin? What can we get for him? We are all kinda of attached to Champ so we are thinking with are hearts not our heads. TWO #1's FOR CHAMP. They would have to be top ten picks. One this year and one next year. Plus we have the #5 already. One player doesn't make a defense. Look at NE. We can get a FA Corner just a shade under Champ for a quarter of the money. Then pick up the best DT and the best DE in the draft. Not to mention having an extra 1st rounder NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!! Holy ______!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me. Plus pick up a veteran FA for the DL(i.e Winstom, Adams, Sapp) and a solid RB in the second round a la Greg Jones. It is to good to be true. Don't let the door hit you on the way Champ!!! We love you but your not worth all that.
