Default Cap Space

How much do we have?

Releasing the 4 players today opens up either 10.9 mil or 17.4 mil. Chucking Bailey relieves 6.8 mil. Signing Brunell adds 2 or 2.5 mil. Signing Portis would throw in ~5 mil. And we get an extra mil with the cap ezpansion to 80.5. What have I forgotten, and is Bruce Smith's 6.5 mil in the 10.9 mil or is it on top of the 10.9 mil?
If these numbers are somewhat right (11 or 18 mil) then we've got a good bit of cash to play around with, danny can go on another spurge.

I dont want him to go crazy again this offseason. lets save it for the next or even the next. I really dont want to go into cap hell. When are we scheduled to by the way?

The last I read from anywhere that actually sounded authoratative... with Bailey, B. Smith and all of our other anticipated cuts we would have about 16.5 mil in cap room. However, this is before we resign our own free agents, Portis and our draft picks (assuming we still have any). I'm afraid not as much room as will be necessary to sign decent FA to fill all of our other needs.

Well we obviously need a revamped dline and a cb. That will cost us some.

As far as the line goes i see a couple of low priced gems in indianapolis. DE Bratze, and DT Josh Williams.

We won't sign many FAs, in my opinion. Take Ted Washington at DT for a main stud, then Bratzke as a inexpensive and pretty good DE, and draft a CB like maybe Vincent or Winfield if we can afford them and still sign Sean Taylor.
