A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL: Is an all out run at the Superbowl worth going to cap hell?
Most people will agree that the Redskins have "won" the off season for the last three years, yet we haven't been able to get over the hump once the games actually start.
This pol seeks to guage the feelings of the Redskins faithful. Is the all out pursuit of a Superbowl win now worth the possibility of living through two or three years of salary cap hell in the near furture?
Do you think "the mortgage the future for a shot at the Superbowl now" course of action is the way to go, or should we start trying to show a little restraint and build the team through draft choices and low dollar free agents (More like how the Patriots do business).
Also included is a third option for the ostriches among us.

I think the first Danny era was really bad... He is learning, he showed that last offseason with young players that were a need. (Think Coles, Thomas...) Now he has learned more and, oh!, by the way... he has a HOF coach by his side. We will do far much better. The main reason we haven't been successful is HC, and now that's not a problem.

I'd rather get to the superbowl and then worry about the cap. What good is it to be like Minnesota, have plenty of cap room but never make it to the big game. I'm tired of rebuilding, at least if were going to rebuild, lets win first.

this happens every year. we have a big offseason, we are supposed to be in cap hell after the season, and it doesnt happen. im confident that the front office knows what they are doing.

Caop hell is overrated and cap cuts and releases and restructures make cap hell unrealistic. This team has been heading to cap hell since the 2000 spending spress, yet each and every year, we clear enough cap space to spend again. I dont buy the cap hell argument anymore. It is all abotu planning. If you know you will reach a contract at some point that will be too expensive to keep, you shoudl have a player via draft or a lower prived veteran ready to take over for a potential cap cut.

Portis is ok, Champ would have been better, but if he didn't want to be here **** him. The Brunnell deal will hurt for many years to come. When he's 37, been on the bench for a year or two and we're looking at $8 MM in dead cap space, that will be hell.

We were in " cap hell" the season Shottenheimer was the coach and if I am not mistaken that season we had a better record than the previous couple of years as well as the last 2 seasons. So what does that tell you?

We've got a coach that wants to build a team where some people might stay awhile, and if we start winning...maybe they actually will....
