Default Average age of Skins on current roster...

is 26.23....I don't know what is was in 2000, but it seems like it was around 40 (J/K)

The only players on the roster over the age of 29 are:

Mark Brunell - 33
Byron Chamberlain - 32
Ethan Albright - 32
Jermaine Haley - 31
Kevin Mitchell - 33

Of those only Brunell is getting big money......

I hope they can stay together and grow for a couple of years. This is a pretty solid team the way it's built (with a couple of positions that are lacking right now).

It's exciting though. Hey, we could sign some of these high school kids and really drop our average age!! (sarcasm)

Special teams players don't count...

But yea Vinny and Danny seem to have figured that high priced young talent is easier to deal with than high priced old and retiring talent.

well if you look at recent years people have been signing their draft picks to long term deals because we just pick them up after their 2 or 3rd years if theyre good

This is good news. I'm surprised the avg age is only 16, that is great.

But....I still am very concerned that we may only have the 1st round pick in this year's draft if the Rams don't match the offer for Butler the CB. Wow, having only one draft pick????? Is George Allen making personnel decisions again? Future is now.

Nice post. That is a good sign for the future. Hopefully, we can keep most of them.

The one thing about Free Agency I hate is that players stay with their teams for such short periods of time. The Darrell Greens are in the vast minority. Fans no longer identify with individual players like they used to. Fans hesitate to buy jerseys and other team stuff with player names and numbers because the guy may not be there next year. Consider all those Champ Bailey jerseys at FedEx Field this past season. Lot of folks are going to be ticked off they spent $70-250 for a jersey and the guy is no longer on the team.

It's one of two things that I think could seriously harm the NFL's relationship with their fans. The other is pricing themselves out of the "real fan's" ability to pay. Increasingly, tickets are going to corporations who dole out tickets as prizes or for business reasons. Those folks hardly know the players or the team. Lower and Middle class families can hardly justify spending $1,500 plus for a pair of season tickets when they have to support their families and make ends meet. It's fun to watch your team on TV but it is a special connection to be with 80,000 other fans screaming your lungs out for your team.

Looks like we are building for the future with a strong base of young players.
